Since 1998, The American Association of Wound Care Management (AAWCM) has
actively represented practitioners and organizations involved in the wound care
field (providers, management companies, manufactures, product supply companies,
etc.) to assure the continued recognition of the growing importance of wound
care in medicine today. Through active lobbying on Capitol Hill, regular contact
with CMS, and interaction with private insurers, AAWCM has had a significant
impact on the acceptance of clinical indications for service, coverage
determinations, and payment policy.
The mission of AAWCM is to be a proactive champion of wound care and an advocate for its
member organizations by enhancing the understanding and acceptance of comprehensive wound
healing programs and adjunctive wound healing products and services. Through its efforts,
AAWCM also hopes to improve patient awareness of and access to these clinically efficacious and cost effective services.
