Work Plan
Legislative:
Working collaboratively with Arent Fox, AAWCM will develop and invest in a strategy to monitor national health care reform proposals and other healthcare legislative activity. Guided by Arent Fox, AAWCM will meet with congressional leaders, CMS and other agencies as needed to address issues that may adversely affect the provision of wound care and related services
Local Coverage Decisions:
Monitor MAC LCD’s and submit comments and recommendations on all proposed wound and HBO related LCDs.
Membership Support:
Monitor MEDCAC for wound related topics and submit comments as needed.
Monitor CMS coding, coverage and payment activities and submit comments and recommendations as appropriate.
Monitor wound related Physician Quality Indicators.
Monitor MedPac meetings
Monitor CMS activity with respect to single line item reporting for HBO.
Educate membership about the cost reporting impact of this change
Develop recommended actions membership may take in response to this issue.
Work with various BC/BS regarding coverage determinations for HBO.
Collaborate with other wound and chronic disease organizations in commenting on key issues which impact wound care.
Research:
Monitor Comparative Effectiveness Research Priorities and recommend wound and HBO related Comparative Effectiveness research topics.
Evaluate opportunity to submit research topics for consideration to AAHQ Effective HealthCare program.
Work with Universities and other research groups conducting wound related research; assist in providing access to AAWCM member data registries.
